How to Draw a Cartoon Character

Since I have now made this tutorial available for the public, that sample file is no longer available with this tutorial.

[..YouTube..] @freakup2 im not using the english version of flash so its kinda hard to explain. but basically, after you select the pencil there are these pencil-options on the bottom yof your toolbar. (the bar in which you also select the pencil) and there are diffrent peciol modes: straighten, smoothen or freehand. and these options let you draw rounder shapes.

[..YouTube..] @TheDrTwist whenever a tool is selected you’ll see from this video that settings for the tool are to the lower section of the tool panel. Look down the bottom for a step-like line. Click and hold, 3 options will appear, select the option that says smooth. All the best.

[..YouTube..] @TheDrTwist In the tools section you will see a tiny box that looks like ~ sideways. Click on it. It opens up a menu and you can select from 3 options. Select the one on the bottom about ink. And it wont auto correct your pencil lines. Unfortunately this is not available for brushing. But be careful, you can have really ugly choppy lines working this way.

[..YouTube..] I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THE BUCKET PAINT PROBLEM!!! You have to uncheck “Object Drawing” and check “Snap to Object” BEFORE drawing the bit (eyebrow, for example) and then use the paint bucket. IT WORKS!!! (Both buttons are on the lower right corner of the screen when you select the Line tool)

[..YouTube..] I finally found out why the paintbucket didn’ t work. First of all if lines are touching doesn’ t mean they are closed. To check this click on the blanc scuare box above your layers, next to the lock. Then you will see your lines more thin and now you can zoom in and strech your lines to close them. I also was unable to make the bottem of his body blue. This was because when I selected the line tool, the “draw object” button was clicked on, next to the magnet button. Hope this helps!

[..YouTube..] @zombarak I wonder if you aren’t able to use the paint bucket when you make a half circle using the pen tool because you haven’t joined every point together. Once you’ve made the two points opposite each other and pulled to make the rounded side of half circle, you then want to click each point on the flat side of the half cirle to join them. This will create a fully closed half circle. Try the paint bucket tool again and hopefully it works.
