Organizing Scenes and Shots in Adobe Flash

It’s safe to say that if you’re making a cartoon, you’re going to want more than one shot or scene. So how do you do that? I show you how to get started with this process by using Adobe Flash’s scene panel.

This is exactly what I was look ing for. Thank you, I just have one question, will the scene option only work in an action script 3.0? or will it work in a html canvas?

what if you want your character to turn back or in front o you as a portrait face :? ??

  6. Karan Nagwekar says:

If your video is 25 fps, then a 15000 frame animation would last 10 minutes.

  7. CoolGirlJill says:

hey I was wondering how can you tell how long your movie is? like if you wanted to make it no longer than 10 minutes? how can you tell if it’s too long or too short, before you export it so that you don’t have to cut parts of your movie out or have to go back and add parts?

Many thanks for this tutorial, i learned a lot,not only scene organization, but methods for it, and i also learned about classic tween vs motion tweens, because i opened an old .fla file and the markings in the timeline for a tween didnt match the markings for a motion tween, yet it is a classic tween which i did not know about

btw according to Adobes official website in regard to using the scene panel they say “if a document contains two scenes with ten frames each, the frames in Scene 2 are numbered 11–20.”… That would be great if it were actually true. I notice that isn’t happening for you, or at least not in this video.

Hey your videos are great! Thank you so much. 1 thing I can’t figure out though is how to use the scene panel when my characters are symbols. When I try this all the animation from within the symbols timeline carries over to every scene. For ex. if I have a characters mouth moving from frame 10 to 20 on scene 1 then his mouth will move from 10 to 20 in every scene. I was wondering if you had away around this. Either way thank you for the great videos.

As2 is outdated, it’s a broken language and the more you get into it the more you will understand why… Don’t even bother learning it. As3 is way more object oriented, it’s faster and it’s more like other languages so when you know that, you can learn java, javascript, c# in a few weeks. The programming forums at kongregate(dot)com should be a pretty good place to start

Quite a good tutorial. If you don’t mind me asking though. How do you line up background music when you go from scene to scene in this way? Do you edit the music before hand or is there a way to let flash know how to keep playing the music normally?
