  3. Wookiee J says:

mathias holland:You can’t make the lasso stop drawing until you click on the first point you created which completes the selection. If you watch where he cuts out the second part of the image you can see him click the first point and the lasso tool completes the selection. If you want to start again once you have begun just click Escape.

  4. Irene D says:

Thanks for a very useful video! You are awesome!!!

  5. mathias holland says:

wow.. I only wanted to see how to make the lasso stop drawing… which you skipped right over, even after being presented with an opportunity to explain how to make the lasso stop… thanks.

    thank you sooooooo much

  7. JodyD05 says:

Thank you for providing the basic steps. The only step to define more, at least for my purposes, was how to move the second image around the background image, i.e. to resize the image. I got it but it took a little bit of figuring it out. Thanks for the help.

I agree John he is speaking my language. I hope he does more videos.

I have been watching several tutorials regarding The Magnetic Lasso Tool. I am not too experienced with Photoshop, but this video gave me the information I needed just now. Thank you very much!

  10. Monelle Richmond says:

Nice video, but one very important step you left out is how do you move the image when you get to the edge of the monitor? You do it, but you don’t say how. You cannot use your mouse to zoom in or out or move your location …

  11. Les342 says:

Thanks for this tutorial. I am not too experienced with Photoshop and was getting really frustrated trying to use this tool, but there was some really good information here. I think I will still need to practice a bit, but this video should help me out.

  12. certified30 says:

if you working with a mac it is all good however if you are using windows half of the commands he is talking about won’t work.

  14. John McVeigh says:

on a simple object like this , why wouldnt you just use the background eraser ?

  15. Kathy Rosen says:

This tutorial is aptly named. It is certainly an “INCREDIBLE TUTORIAL.” I have watched so many tutorials so far and this one actually helped me. I will be watching it again and again until I have this technique mastered!

  16. Binod Kc says:

back button is backspace button (left arrow button) on keyboard:D

  17. LV sushi says:

    where is the back button

  18. ElveeKaye says:

I have PS7 and am having a problem with the magnetic lasso. I’ll just get started outlining an object, when suddenly the screen sort of “flashes,” as if Photoshop is rebooting or something, and then the anchor points abruptly join up before I’m finished selecting the object! This is very annoying, as I am unable to ever complete selecting the object. Why does this happen, and what can I do to stop it?

is there a way to save the selection or mask afte,r so you wont have to do it all over again?

  25. humsup808 says:

Actually…it is the most usable of all the tools. Since you seem to be so good at criticism why dont’ you make a video that you would would consider superior otherwise stfu.

  26. humsup808 says:

What is the cast off button?

  27. xDaMiWORLDx says:

If you still don’t know, the Backspace is the default key for retracing your steps.

  28. Federico says:

Sorry which one is the ‘back bottom’ to go back in case i went out of the line with the lasso? I’m getting crazy…every time I make a mistake I have to start everything from the beginning..thanks a lot

This might come a bit late. When you’ve got a selection, just use the “add to selection” and “subtract from selection” options to modify it.

Thank you very much. Very well done. Question. If I notice later that one of my anchor points is off, can I somehow “push” it into place? For example, if I’ve just spend 15 minutes working around an object and then see when I’m done that one part is not exactly touching where I wanted it too – can I take that anchor point and move it?

Hey there Redhead, got a question for you! What if you have a large image and want to lasso a very specific area and need to have it zoomed in? Then you have to move the image to another part so you can work on THAT part. How do you do that, without having the lasso tool following you all over hell and back? Thanks for your video: hugely helpful!
